American Heart Association Recommendations for Physical Activity in Adults and Kids

The results of a long term study of over 100,000 participants was recently released in Circulation. Conducted over a 30 year period, it has once again confirmed that regular exercise reduces death in adults from all causes.

How much exercise do you need? It depends on the intensity, but 30 minutes, 5 days a week of moderate activity is the recommended amount to reduce mortality up to 20%


August is Immunization Awareness Month

We are all tired of hearing about COVID vaccines. There is a new one available called Novavax that was produced using the older methods that we are accustomed to. We do not know when it will be readily available to the public, nor are there recommendations released on dosing in combination with the mRNA vaccines (Pfizer or Moderna). Stay tuned.

In the meantime, there are other routine immunizations recommended for adults such as Shingrix and Prevnar.

2 doses of Meningitis vaccines are now required for teens entering senior year of high school.
